Chiesi ranks 23rd on 2024’s World’s Best Workplaces

Chiesi Group has entered the 2024 World’s Best Workplaces™ list, landing at rank 23 among the 25 global companies recognized by Great Place To Work® and Fortune magazine.

Italian firm breaks into elite global ranking

The Parma‑based pharmaceutical company appears on the list for the first time, becoming the inaugural Italian business to achieve the distinction. Chiesi operates through 31 affiliates worldwide and employs more than 7,000 staff, with women representing 56 percent of the workforce.

According to the ranking methodology, companies must appear on at least five regional Best Workplaces™ lists across continents such as Asia, Europe, and North America during 2023 or early 2024. The survey that feeds the list collected 7.4 million responses, covering roughly 20 million employees globally.

Leadership attributes success to employee focus

Chief Executive Officer Giuseppe Accogli said the company’s placement reflects a “firm commitment to our people’s well‑being” and that the recognition “will further increase our sense of pride and belonging.” He added that the accolade highlights Chiesi’s dedication to serving patients worldwide.

Chief Human Resources Officer Giacomo Mazzariello highlighted the role of the global team, describing Chiesi as a “Happy Place” where policies aim to deliver what the firm calls “(work‑) Life Harmony.” He noted efforts to close the gender pay gap and to nurture a culture of well‑being and innovation.

The company’s R&D arm employs over 1,300 scientists and technicians, a figure that contributes to its reputation for creating a collaborative environment. The broader workforce benefits from initiatives that encourage authentic participation and empower employees to influence company direction.

From a practical standpoint, the ranking may translate into more competitive recruitment, as prospective hires often consider such lists when evaluating potential employers. Existing staff could also see reinforced morale, given the public validation of internal surveys.

In addition to the global accolade, Chiesi earned a spot among the top 10 Best Workplaces in Europe™ for 2024. Fortune also listed the firm as a Great Place to Work in Biopharma in the United States, recognized it among Best Workplaces for Women™ in Greater China, and highlighted its performance in the United Kingdom’s biopharma sector.

Employee satisfaction is rising.

While the list includes only a handful of companies, Chiesi’s inclusion signals a growing emphasis on employee experience within the pharmaceutical industry. The firm’s continued focus on gender equity, well‑being programs, and transparent leadership appears aligned with the criteria that drive the World’s Best Workplaces™ rankings.
